D3hoops.com announced its all-region teams Wednesday, and named Bomber senior Sean Burton the East Region Player of the Year and a first-team selection. He was a second-team all-region player during the 2007-08 season. Fellow senior Jeff Bostic was also recognized, he was named to the East Region second-team for the second-straight year. The post-season honors keep rolling in for senior center Mark Carson of the RIT men's basketball team. On Thursday, Carson became RIT's first All-American since Craig Jones and Aaron Morrison in 1997, as he was named a NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) third team All-American. Mike Daley, the longest tenured coach in the history of the Nazareth College athletic department, is retiring as head coach of the men’s basketball team. Daley recently completed his 23rd season as the Golden Flyers’ head coach, during which time he has compiled an overall record of 318-284. He coached his final game Sunday at Ithaca in the Empire 8 Conference championship game as the Golden Flyers lost to RIT, 76-71 in overtime. Tournament Most Valuable Player Mark Carson scored 27 points on 11-of-13 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead second-seeded Rochester Institute of Technology to a 76-71 overtime victory over fourth-seeded Nazareth College in the title game of the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Championship. It marks the first conference tournament championship for the Tigers and their first Empire 8 title since 2000. The Bombers will host the semifinals and final Saturday and Sunday. Following an extensive national search, Stevens Institute of Technology Director of Athletics Russell Rogers announced the hiring of Bobby Hurley as the new head men’s basketball coach on Tuesday afternoon. Hurley, who has worked on the Ducks’ staff for the past five seasons, served as the associate head coach under Josh Loeffler this past year.
