Player of the Week
Corey McAdam, Nazareth College
Sr., G, Fairport, NY/Fairport HS

McAdam was named Most Valuable Player of the Empire 8 Men’s Basketball Championship as he led Nazareth to its second conference title in three years.   He scored 21 of his game-high 27 points in the second half and overtime as the Golden Flyers battled back from an eight-point deficit to edge Ithaca 75-72 in the semifinals.  McAdam scored 22 of his game-high 26 points in the second half as Nazareth overcame a 12-point second-half deficit to defeat top-seeded St. John Fisher 65-64.  McAdam, who was named Empire 8 Men’s Basketball Player of the Year earlier in the week, hit two free throws with seven seconds left to give the Golden Flyers the title.

Rookie of the Week (Feb. 22)
Sean Rossi, Ithaca College
Fr., PG, Sparta, NJ/Sparta HS

Rossi picked up 17 points and eight assists in a 76-63 Ithaca win at Stevens.  He hit eight of 12 free throws.

Empire 8 Men's Basketball team notes...

St. John Fisher and Empire 8 champion Nazareth will each compete in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship.  The Cardinals (22-5) will host a regional on Friday and Saturday, facing Brooklyn (22-6) in the first round on Friday.  Brandeis (19-6) will meet St. Lawrence (16-11) in the other game on site with the winners to meet on Saturday.  Nazareth (18-9) will play Medaille (23-4) in a first-round game Friday at Plattsburgh.  The winner of that game will face the winner of the Plattsburgh (21-7)-SUNY IT (24-4) game in the second round on Saturday.
