Scott Harris Claims First National Title for St. John Fisher

May 16, 2008

From St. John Fisher College Sports Information Release

Scott Harris Jr. claimed the first national title in St. John Fisher College Division III history, winning  the individual competition at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship.  Harris shot a 75 on Friday, completing his wire-to-wire win, earning the victory by five strokes.

Harris' victory, however, was some-what bitter-sweet for the Cardinals.  Fisher led the team competition going into the final round, but finished in third place overall.  It is still one of the best finishes by a Fisher team.  The Fisher women's basketball program has  finished as the national runner-up twice, while in 2006, the Fisher football program also finished third in the national tournament.

In 2005, Harris won the individual NJCAA Division III Championship, shooting a 291 at Monroe Community College.  He did not golf in 2006, and last year he led Fisher to 17th-place in the national tournament, while earning All-American honors.
