Stevens Women's Swimming Finishes 12th at 2010 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships

The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s swimming program placed 12th in the nation at the NCAA’s – the second top-15 finish in the last two years. Sheila Rhodes Earns Two All-America Honors and Ithaca Places 14th at 2010 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships

Ithaca junior Sheila Rhoades of the women's swimming & diving team placed fourth in the national championship finals of the 100-yard freestyle after placing fifth overall in the preliminaries of the event with a time of 50.78 seconds. That time is a school, conference and UNYSCSA record. Rhoades earned her second First Team All-American award of this championship meet in individual events after placing third in the 50 free on Wednesday. Ithaca 400 Medley Relay Earns All-America Honors at 2010 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships

The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team earned two more all-America finishes during Thursday's events at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship meet. Ithaca's 400-yard medley relay of sophomore Missy Keesler, junior Becca Blazak, freshman Carly Jones and junior Sheila Rhoades finished sixth overall with a time of 3:52.34 in the finals, more than a second faster than the time they swam in the morning preliminaries (3:53.40). Carissa Risucci earned All-American honors in the 200-yard breaststroke Saturday as she placed eighth in that event at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving championships at the University of Minnesota. The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team seeks its 11th consecutive Empire 8 title and second consecutive state championship when competition begins Wednesday at the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championship meet at Nottingham High School in Syracuse.
