Ithaca Finishes Third at ECAC Women's Golf Tournament

Amanda Failla Places Second Overall With School-Record Rounds

Rochester, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's golf team posted another solid round and finished third in a strong field of six teams at the ECAC Division II/III Women's Golf Championships, held Saturday and Sunday at Blue Heron Hills Country Club in Rochester. The Bombers scored 363 Sunday for a two-day total of 716. Ithaca finished six shots better than fourth-place Cortland, a team that Ithaca had never previously beaten in two years of tournament play.

Freshman Amanda Failla (Farmington/Unionville, Conn.) finished second overall among individuals in the tournament with a two-round total of 162 on back-to-back rounds of 81, which are the best rounds ever posted by an Ithaca player. Failla also established a record nine-hole mark with a score of 37 on the front nine Sunday. Sophomore Jackie Young (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/Burnt Hills) was Ithaca's second-best performer Sunday with a round of 88 and also ranked second for Bomber individuals on the weekend with a two-day total of 183.

Senior Lauren Ryan (Concord/Concord, N.H.), sophomore Brooke Llobell (East Islip/Great River) and senior Christie O'Shea (John Jay/Hopewell Junction) all posted rounds of 97 on Sunday. Ryan totaled 185 over the weekend, Llobell stood at 186 and O'Shea shot 198.
