Strong Showing Leads Ithaca Men to Eighth-Place Finish at Oberlin

Oberlin, Ohio – The Ithaca men’s cross country team ran to an eighth-place finish out of 31 competing teams on Saturday at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin.

Graduate student William Way (Cheltenham/Glenside, Pa.) ran to a 17th-place finish on the eight-kilometer course finishing in 25 minutes, 34.80 seconds to lead the Bombers.

Senior John Davis (Salem/Salem, Mass.) improved his season-best time by 13 seconds finishing in 25:40.70 to place 23rd overall. Sophomore Nate Bickell (Annapolis/Annapolis, Md.) was next to cross the finish line for the Bombers in 66th place. Bickell, who also registered a season-best time, recorded a time of 26:27.60.

Senior A.J. McConville (Haldane/Cold Spring) ran to a 71st-place finish for Ithaca in a time of 26:30.20, followed by senior Tyler Gustafson (Jamestown/Lakewood) in 77th-place recording a time of26:33.80 to improve his season-best 8K time by more than 30 seconds.

Rounding out the Bombers’ top seven were sophomores Mark Vorensky (Metuchen/Metuchen, N.J.) and Billy Savage (Indian Hills/Oakland, N.J.). While both runners compiled season-best marks, they finished in 93rd and 95th-places, respectively. Vorensky ran a time of 26:45.70 and Savage crossed merely two seconds later in 26:47.40.
