St. John Fisher Women's Soccer Picks up Conference Win over Elmira
The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team tallied three goals en route to a 3-0 win in Empire 8 action over Elmira College this afternoon.
Fisher, who was outscored by opponents on a 19-7 tilt over the first 13 games of the season, have now outscored the opposition 10-0 in its last two contests.
Fisher's recorded the Cardinals' first two goals, putting Fisher on the board with her first tally 27 minutes into play. The freshman grabbed her own rebound off the Elmira goalie, tapping it in from two feet out.
Rohloff's second goal came in the 43rd minute when she grabbed a pass from teammate Kaytlyn Perotti, dribbling it in from 20 yards out and sending the Cardinals into halftime with a two-goal lead.
Freshman Alexa Capozzi tallied her fourth goal of the season, on a breakaway set up at midfield by Amanda Siebert; Capozzi faked the shot before moving right and firing it between the pipes, capping off scoring for Fisher.
Jessica Plukas made five saves in net.
The Cardinals, now 4-9-1 overall, earned their first win in conference play, improving to 1-4-1 in the Empire 8.
