William Way Leads Ithaca to Strong Finish at Paul Short Invitational

Career-Best Time Helps Bombers to Fourth-Place Finish

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Bomber men’s cross country squad raced to a strong fourth-place finish at the 37th Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Friday afternoon. Racing in the Brown bracket of 40 teams, the Bombers finished behind three NCAA Division I teams on the eight-kilometer course. Graduate student William Way (Cheltenham/Glenside, Pa.) finished 10th overall to lead Ithaca with a career-best time of 25 minutes, 37 seconds. This time ranks him 13th on Ithaca’s all-time top-performances list, while senior John Davis (Salem/Salem, Mass.) now ranks 24th all-time as he crossed the line in 25:53 good for a 19th-place. Junior Dan Craighead (Ithaca/Ithaca) was the third Bomber to finish, placing 43rd with a time of 26:20, while senior A.J. McConville (Haldane/Cold Spring) was 46th just one second later at 26:21. Rounding out the Bombers’ top seven were sophomores Nate Bickell (Annapolis/Annapolis, Md.) and Billy Savage (Indian Hills/Oakland, N.J.), and senior Stefan Karkuff (Cumberland Valley/Mechanicsburg, Pa.). Bickell finished in 72nd-place with a 26:42 time, while Savage crossed the line 87th, and Karkuff 109th, with times of 26:48 and 27:00, respectively.
