Elmira Men’s Soccer Soars Past Ithaca 1-0

Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College Soaring Eagles Men’s Soccer team concluded their 2010 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over the Bombers of Ithaca College. The win moves Elmira’s overall record to 11-4-2 and 5-2 in Empire 8 Conference play.

It was a physical game throughout, but it was the Purple and Gold that was able to notch the lone score of the contest. Second year standout Erik Lee ’13 (Suffield, CT -- Suffield) tallied his team-leading ninth goal of the season at the 18:38 mark of the first half. Lee was set up by fellow Class of 2013 teammate Alex Poole ’13 (Chilmark, MA -- Martha's Vineyard). The Elmira College defense stepped up their play for the remainder of the game to secure their eighth shut out victory of the season.

Elmira goalkeeper Alex Todd ’13 (Elmira, NY -- Notre Dame) earned his second win of the season between the posts making 11 saves in the contest.
