Elmira Women’s Soccer Stuns Stevens 2-1

Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College Soaring Eagles Women’s Soccer team entered their final regular season contest of the 2010 season Saturday afternoon on Campus Field against the Ducks of Stevens Tech. The Ducks were able to notch the first score of the contest, but the Soaring Eagles showed their resiliency and fought back with two unanswered goals to take the game by a score of 2-to-1.

Stevens Tech. took an early lead in the contest with a score at the 22:27 mark of the first half as Katria Misilo ’11 found the back of the net. However, Elmira College was able to even the game back at one just before the halftime break as Caitlyn Criscuolo ’14 (Cheshire, CT -- Cheshire) headed a rebound past Stevens goalkeeper Kaitlin McClymont ’12. This was Criscuolo’s fourth goal of the season.

The Purple and Gold tallied the game winning goal at the 64:03 mark of the contest as second year standout Kelsey Kiel ’13 (Bryn Athyn, PA -- Academy of the New Church) converted a penalty kick opportunity. This was Kiel’s team leading seventh goal of the 2010 season.

EC goalkeeper Karissa Wilson ’12 (Londonderry, NH -- Londonderry) had a stellar game guarding the net recording 12 saves during her 90 minute performance.

With the win Elmira College finishes the season with an overall record of 4-12-1 (2-5-1 Empire 8), while the Ducks fall to 14-3-2 (5-3-0 Empire 8) on the year.
