Sara Budar Sets Career Assists Record in Two Stevens Wins

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (October 29, 2010) – Senior setter Sara Budar notched 25 assists against SUNY Fredonia in the opening match of the Vassar College Tournament in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to pass former Duck Gina Joyce ’06 for first all-time on the program’s career assists chart, before tallying 31 assists against Daemen College to become the first student-athlete in school history to notch 3,000 assists. Stevens defeated the Blue Devils 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-11) to open tournament play before besting the Wildcats, 3-1 (25-13, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20).

Freshman outside hitter Chrissy Dickinson led the Stevens’ attack against Daemen, recording 10 kills, while Majcher added nine spikes. Reilly collected 15 digs in the win, while Plotzker chipped in with a team-best seven blocks. Budar finished with a team-high 31 assists to become the first Duck to dish out 3,000 career assists (3,024).
