Elmira Places Fourth at ECAC Championship
Perington, NY -- The Elmira College Soaring Eagles Men’s Golf team displayed another strong showing this weekend at the ECAC Championships held at Midvale Country Club in Perington, NY. The Soaring Eagles earned a fourth place finish out of fourteen competing teams with an overall score of 648 for the weekend, only three strokes out of the runner-up position.
Alex Marcoux ’12 (Coaticook, QC -- Champlain College) and Patrick Reilly ’13 (Colton, NY -- Colton Pierrepont) were Elmira’s top performers of the weekend shooting overall scores of 159. The duo was consistent in each round of the tournament finishing with scores of 79 in round one and 80 in the final round on Sunday.
Howie Fleischman ’12 (Naples, NY -- Naples) completed the weekend only one stroke back of Marcoux and Reilly with an overall score of 160 for EC. Fleischman shot Elmira’s best round of the weekend on Saturday posting a round score of 78, and finished the weekend with a round of 82.
Class of 2011 players Brendan McKee ’11 (Amsterdam, NY -- Amsterdam) and Robert Kunka ’11 (Great Falls, VA -- Tabor Academy) also shot well for the Purple and Gold finishing the weekend with scores of 173 (85, 88) and 181 (96, 85) respectively on the par 72 course.
