Stevens Athletes Participate in Tunnel to Towers Run

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 5, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse teams participated in The Firefighter Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run/Walk on Sunday, September 26, 2010. Members of the Stevens women’s basketball team also participated in the event which attracted 6,845 participants from the entire country. All proceeds go directly to The Stephen Siller, FDNY, ‘Let Us Do Good’ Children’s Foundation.

This is the third time both the men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse teams participated in the run as a team and every year, more and more Stevens student-athletes participate.

“I am very proud to say that our team has participated in the Tunnel to Towers run the last few years,” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bobby Hurley.

“This event helps us to remember and honor those who sacrificed their own lives to help others. It’s truly a great cause and something I look forward to supporting in the years to come.”

The Stephen Siller, FDNY, 'Let Us Do Good' Children's Foundation was created to serve the needs of children who have lost one or more parents. The Foundation sponsors educational scholarships, counseling, financial support and other related activities in an effort to bring hope and healing to these children. The Foundation honors the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, FDNY, who lost both his parents by the time he was 10 years old. It is a non-profit organization.
