Golden Flyers Run Conference Record to 3-1-0

ALFRED, N.Y. -- Senior Rikesh Kotak scored three goals and added two assists and freshman Ryan Foley also scored twice Saturday as visiting Nazareth had little difficulty defeating Alfred in an Empire 8 men's soccer match, 8-0, at Merrill Field.

The Golden Flyers improved to 3-1 in conference games and to 5-6-2 overall. The Saxons are 4-6-2 overall and 0-4 in E8 action.

The Golden Flyers scored four goals in each half to dominate the Saxons, who managed only six shots and were held without a corner kick.

Kotak scored Nazareth's first two goals less than a minute apart in the first half. Freshman James Wheeler assisted on both scores. Foley and junior Sean Dorman each scored before the first half ended as Nazareth built a commanding advantage.

In the second half, Foley scored again and now has team bests in goals (7) and points (17). Freshman Luke Elston contributed his first career goal and also had an assist and sophomore Scott Duarte also scored for the first time. Wheeler also had three assists to raise his season total to six.

Junior Kyle Connolly Jared Schreiner combined for the shutout. Connolly needed to make just two saves.
