The Utica College women's soccer team advanced to 1-1-2 in Empire 8 Conference play with a well deserved 0-0 tie against visiting RIT Saturday morning on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Freshman goalie Stephanie Simonds stopped a career-high 10 shots, including a key breakaway save in overtime, to help the Pioneers remain in the hunt in conference play.

UC (2-6-2, 1-1-2 E8) totaled 16 shots and three corner kicks on the day while RIT (6-2-3, 1-1-2) added 20 shots and seven corners.  RIT net minder Ashley Valenti made eight saves in goal for the Tigers.

RIT had the best chance of the contest in the second overtime period when McKenzie Worden hustled for a wide open break away, but Simonds challenged hard and came through with the big save for Utica.

Senior midfielder Cheyenne Chrzanowski totaled a game-high five shots for the Pioneers.
