St.John Fisher Volleyball Advances in ECACs

Fourth-seeded St. John Fisher College picked up a 3-0 win (25-20, 26-24, 25-18) over No. 5 Mount Saint Mary College in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Upstate/Metro Women’s Volleyball Championship on Wednesday night at Fisher’s Bobby Wanzer Court.

 With the win, Fisher improves to 20-15 overall, while the Knights end their season with a 21-11 overall record. It is the third straight 20-win season for Fisher, who will now play at top-seeded Elmira College at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
 
 Fisher picked up a 25-18 win in the opening game and appeared to have control of the second game, leading 23-18, but the Knights rallied and tied the game up at 24-24.   After a Fisher timeout, the Cardinals took the lead for good on a kill from Becca Smith and never looked back.
 
For Fisher, Sydney Kandefer and Smith each finished with 12 kills. Smith also led the Cardinals with 11 digs, while Amy Street collected 38 assists.

For the Knights, Kaylene Pennings finished with nine kills.   Lauren Halverson totaled 27 assists, while Heather Schaeffer finished with 11 digs.
