Way Runs to 11th-Place Finish, Helps Ithaca to Seventh at NCAA Regionals

Oneonta, N.Y. – Graduate student William Way (Cheltenham/Glenside, Pa.) tallied all-region honors with an 11th-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Atlantic Region Championships hosted by Oneonta at Fortin Park on Saturday morning. He paced the Bombers to a seventh-place finish out of a 39-team field which matches Ithaca’s best finish since a fifth-place finish in 2003.

Way finished the eight-kilometer course in a career-best 25 minutes, 8.60 seconds to improve his ranking on Ithaca’s all-time record list to sixth.

Also earning all-region accolades while tallying a season-best time was senior John Davis (Salem/Salem, Mass.) who finished 22nd overall in 25:37.70.

A 2009 all-region finisher, junior Dan Craighead (Ithaca/Ithaca) placed 52nd having recorded a time of 26:23.80, while sophomore Nate Bickell (Annapolis/Annapolis, Md.) tallied a 64th-place finish with a time of 26:36.00.

Sophomore Mark Vorensky (Metuchen/Metuchen, N.J.) ran to an 89th-place finish by crossing the line in 26:56.40 and was followed in 90th by senior Tyler Gustafson (Jamestown/Lakewood). Gustafson ran the course in 26:56.80 and sophomore Billy Savage (Indian Hills/Oakland, N.J.) rounded out the Bombers’ top seven finishers in 120th place with a time of 27:30.40.
