Baumbach Paces Ithaca to Seventh Place Finish at NCAA Regionals

Oneonta, N.Y. -- Junior Heidi Baumbach (Lake Placid/Lake Placid) tallied all-region honors with a ninth-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Atlantic Region Championships hosted by Oneonta at Fortin Park on Saturday afternoon. She paced the Bombers to a seventh-place finish out of a 33-team field.

Earning all-region honors for the second consecutive year, Baumbach finished the six-kilometer course in a career-best 22 minutes, 38.90 seconds to improve her ranking on Ithaca’s all-time record list to ninth.

Also running to all-region recognition was senior Alissa Kersey (Sandy Creek/Sodus) who notched a time of 22:56.90 good for 18th place.

Jenn Randall (Cincinnatus Central/Cincinnatus) was Ithaca’s third finisher as the sophomore ran to a 49th-place finish in 23:42.20. Senior Catherine Ortiz (Newburgh Free Academy/Newburgh) followed Randall in 50th-place with marginal separation as she crossed the line in 23:43.30. Close behind was senior Elizabeth Schloss (Canterbury/Fort Wayne, Ind.) with a time of 23:45.50 in 52nd-place.

Rounding out Ithaca’s top seven were sophomore Megan Schenk (Brick Township/Brick, N.J.) and freshman Jodi Robinson (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) who finished in 60th and 63rd, respectively. Schenk tallied a 23:57.70 time, while Robinson closed out her freshman campaign with a 24:03.00 time.
