ITHACA, N.Y. -- Graduate student William Way (Cheltenham/Glenside, Pa.) tallied all-region honors on Saturday en route to earning an invitation to the NCAA Division III championship meet on Nov. 20 in Waverly, Iowa. In addition to 32 teams, 56 individuals were selected to participate in the championship. Way was one of the first seven finishers from the Atlantic Region, who was not a part of a qualifying team, selected to advance the national race.

Way ran to an 11th-place finish at the Atlantic Region Championships hosted by Oneonta at Fortin Park on Saturday morning. He paced the Bombers to a seventh-place finish out of a 39-team field which matches Ithaca’s best finish since a fifth-place finish in 2003.

Way finished the eight-kilometer course in a career-best 25 minutes, 8.60 seconds to improve his ranking on Ithaca’s all-time record list to sixth. He is the first Bomber to race at the NCAA championships since Curt Bell competed as an individual in 2008 with a 128th-place finish.
