Ithaca Women's Tennis Regionally Ranked
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women's tennis team is ranked 15th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and sophomore Cristina Nunez (Morris Hills/Rockaway, N.J.) is ranked eighth among all singles players in the region by the ITA Rankings, which reflect the fall portion of the 2010-11 season.
Nunez compiled a 16-1 record in singles play and won the First Singles championship at the 2010 New York State Division III Women's Tennis Championships. She was a semifinalist at the Mary Hosking Invitational hosted by William Smith. Nunez was perfect in Empire 8 dual matches, with a 6-0 record at first singles, and was named Empire 8 Women's Tennis Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
The Bombers won the Empire 8 title and are 10-0 in dual matches this year. It is Ithaca's sixth consecutive conference title and the team qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the fifth year in a row. It was the fourth season in a row that Ithaca finished the fall portion of its schedule undefeated in dual matches.
