Elmira, NY -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 30th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division III women’s volleyball. The awards will be presented Nov. 18, 2010, at the NCAA Division III Women’s National Championship banquet in St. Louis, Mo., where the 2010 Division III AVCA Player of the Year will be announced.

The Elmira College Soaring Eagles Women’s Volleyball team earned two acknowledgments this year. Second year outside hitter Sasha Zavadska ’13 (Bratislava, SVK – The British School) has been named to the 2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Third-Team All-American.

The 2010 Empire 8 Player of the Year and First Team All-Empire 8 honoree, Zavadska, keyed the Soaring Eagles to a runner-up showing in the Empire 8 Conference tournament, while also ranking among the top-20 nationally in kills per set. Zavadska, who also ranked among her league’s leaders in digs per set, is a first time AVCA All-American. Zavadska is one of nine second year players to receive All-American honors as all other 33 recipients were third and fourth year players. Last season as a first year player, she received the 2009 American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Honorable Mention All-American award.

First year player Taryn Rumsey ’14 (Mansfield, PA -- Mansfield) earned American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Honorable Mention All-American honors for her play this season for the Soaring Eagles. Rumsey had 304 kills on the season, 42 blocks, 66 aces, and 296 digs, and was also selected as the 2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region (New York) Rookie of the Year.
