Austin Bateman Moves to 3-0 as Starting Quarterback

Pittsford, N.Y.. -- November 6, 2010 -- Freshman quarterback Austin Bateman ran for 237 yards and three touchdowns, and threw for one more TD in leading his Springfield College football team to a 55-49 Empire 8 victory at St. John Fisher this afternoon. The win allowed Springfield to raise its record to 7-2 overall, 3-2 in the conference, while the Cardinals fell to 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the Empire 8. Bateman (Ganesvoort, N.Y.) is now 3-0 as the starting quarterback this season. He replaced the injured junior QB Josh Carter (Marlborough, Mass.) for victories in each of the past two weeks.
