St. John Fisher Men's Basketball Collects First Win
The St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team picked up its first win of the season, as the Cardinals rallied from a double-digit deficit in the second half to earn an 80-75 win over host SUNY College at Brockport on Tuesday night.
Jordan Gettings finished with 20 points, while freshman Brent Harder scored a career-high 15 points. Brandon Witte scored 15 points – all in the first half – while Ozell Franklin chipped in with 11.
Brockport led 45-37 at intermission as the Golden Eagles knocked down eight 3-pointers in the first half.
The Golden Eagles pushed their lead to 12 on four different occasions, but the Cardinals rallied.
With Brockport up 60-49 with just over 12 minutes left, the Cardinals went on 14-2 run over the next four minutes with Justin Plata and Grant Wrap combining to score 10 of those points.
Brockport regained the lead on it next possession, but the Cardinals took the lead for with 7:14 left on a pair of free throws from Gettings.
With just over three minutes remaining the Golden Eagles trimmed Fisher’s lead down to one, but Harder drilled a 3-pointer to push the lead back to four.
After Gettings made one-of-two free throws with 20 seconds remaining, making it 78-75, Brockport attempted a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left that would have tied the game, but the shot rattled out and Harder snagged the rebound and converted two free throws at the other end to seal the win.
