St. John Fisher Women's Basketball Advances To Woodcliff Title Game
The St. John Fisher College women’s basketball program earned its first win of the season on Saturday, as the Cardinals posted a 75-60 victory over visiting D’Youville College in the opening round of the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Invitational.
With the win, Fisher (1-2) advances to Sunday’s championship game and will face nationally-ranked Mt. Union College at 3 p.m. The Purple Raiders defeated Union College 61-49 in Saturday’s other semifinal game.
Fisher led 38-34 at intermission, thanks to 17 points on five 3-pointers from Colleen Maloney.
The Cardinals opened the second half with a 13-1 run over the first four minutes to take a 51-35 lead and kept a double-digit advantage for the rest of the game.
Maloney led all scorers with 22 points. Amanda Lax came off the bench and finished with 15 points, while freshman center Camaryn Buckner totaled eight points and seven boards.
Stephanie Sweeney totaled six assists, six rebounds and four points, while Bonny Gardner chipped in with seven points.
