Ithaca Women Run Past Potsdam In Second Half For 65-41 Win

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (2-2) snapped a two-game losing streak Sunday, outscoring the visiting Potsdam Bears (1-3) 41-15 in the second half in a 65-41 win.

The Bears made only four baskets in the second half, shooting 18.2 percent (4-18) from the floor. Ithaca forced 25 Potsdam turnovers – including a pair of shot-clock violations – and converted them into 26 points.

Junior guard Riley Dunn (Central Catholic/Bradford, Mass.) matched a career high with 15 points – all in the second half – making all six of her shots, including three three-point baskets. Senior forward Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) finished with 14 points, four assists and four steals. Sophomore center Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) netted eight points and pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds.

Ithaca gave up the game’s first six points and trailed by seven with 9:39 to play in the first half. The Bears made five of their first seven shots, then missed 29 of their next 37 attempts.

All 15 players on Ithaca’s roster played, with freshman guard Jennifer Escobido (Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.) collecting a career-best eight points off the bench. Junior guard Jessica Farley (Pine Valley Central/South Dayton) recorded six of Ithaca’s 22 assists.

The win marked the 54th time in the past 10 years that the Bombers have held their opponent under 50 points and raised their all-time record against Potsdam to 12-1.
