Sean Rossi Atop National Rankings In Assists
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca men’s basketball team (7-2, 2-0 Empire 8) ranks in the top-20 nationally in three team categories and has players represented in four individual categories in the most recent NCAA Division III men’s basketball national summary.
Sophomore guard Sean Rossi (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) leads the nation in assists with an average of 10.0 per game, while sitting 13th overall in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.1. Fellow guard, junior Jordan Marcus (Solomon Schechter/West Orange, N.J.) ranks 10th nationally with an average of 3.9 three-point field goals made per game. Center Phil Barera (Belmont/Belmont, Mass.) also cracked the top-20 with a 15th-place ranking in field-goal percentage. The senior captain has shot an average of 65.7 percent from the floor over the course of nine games played this season.
Having won five consecutive games, the Bombers rank first out of 403 teams with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.66 and third in turnovers per game having committed an average of 10.0. Ithaca also ranks 14th in three-point field goals per game tallying 9.9 treys per contest.
