Hartwick Leads Men's Competition at Don Richards Invitational
ROCHESTER, NY - Hartwick's men's swimming and diving team sits first after the first day of competition at the three-day Rochester Institute of Technology Don Richards Invitational. The Hawks accumulated 159 points, 35 more than second-place Ithaca.
Three events were held on the night, which included the 200 medley relay, the 1650 freestyle, and the 1-meter diving competition. The Hartwick men accumulated the most points in the 1650 event with five of the top eight finishers. Sophomore Kenny Kleso (Milford, PA) led the way with a first-place finish in a time of 17:01.37. Luke Grunewald (New Windsor, NY) took second place finishing just two seconds behind, and Josh McNorton (Sanford, SC) was third in 17:15.17. Jake Morrison (Roanoke, VA) placed sixth and Nick Mosconi (Gloversville, NY) was eighth.
Josh Morey (Gloversville, NY) and Nate Quinn (Fonda, NY) placed 4th and 8th, respectively, in the 1-meter diving event. William MacElveen (Poughkeepsie, NY), John Wojtech (Bremerton, WA), Chris Willcox (Dresher, PA), and Michael Phillips (Austin, TX) teamed up for 3rd in the 200 medley relay.
There will be two sessions on Saturday, one starting at 10 a.m., with the other getting underway at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the competition comes to a close with events beginning at 10 a.m.
