Emma Dewart & Marcia McCord Lead the Nation in Respective Track Events
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Junior Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker) and senior Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.) currently lead the nation in the 55-meter hurdles and the 55-meter dash, respectively, after breaking school records to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Cornell Relays on Saturday.
Though the pair ran 60-meter events at Cornell, the Track & Field Results Reporting System converts their times to the 55-meter hurdles and the 55-meter dash that are sponsored at the national meet.
Dewart’s 8.96 time in the hurdles converts to 8.33 seconds, while McCord’s short sprint of 7.77 converted to 7.21 seconds to sit them atop the national rankings.
The Bombers will next compete at Kent State’s Doug Raymond Invitational on Jan. 15.
