Ithaca Field Hockey Wins Third Straight Game
ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca field hockey team (3-1) defeated visiting Oswego (1-3) by a 3-1 score Saturday afternoon at Yavits Field. The Bombers have won three straight games.
Three different players scored for Ithaca. The Bombers opened the scoring in the first half on a shot from the left post by sophomore forward Tracy Rivas (East Meadow/East Meadow), who only needed to tap the ball over the line following a great pass from sophomore forward Julia Conroy (Westfield/Westfield, N.J.).
The lead grew early in the second half as freshman forward Katie Kennedy (Cicero-North Syracuse/Clay) scored on a rebound. It was Kennedy's first career goal. Oswego scored a goal to reduce the lead to one goal, but junior forward Heather Kozimor (Hackettstown/Vienna, N.J.) added some insurance with her second goal of the season, assisted by Kennedy.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Singleton (Irondequoit/Rochester) made a career-high 17 saves, including nine in the second half.
