Fisher's Jurik Named Gulf Coast League Braves' Pitcher of the Year
Fisher's Dan Jurik was named the Gulf Coast League Braves' Pitcher of the Year. After being selected in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves in June, Jurik has worked his way up the ranks.
In the spring at Fisher, Jurik, who was named as the 2010 Empire 8 Conference Pitcher of the Year and the College's Male Athlete of the Year, posted a 7-3 record on the mound with a 1.99 earned run average. His 85 strikeouts in 77 innings pitched are both Fisher single-season records. The 6-foot-4 pitcher from Vestal, NY, had a stellar debut in the minors this summer, earning him the honor.
