ROOKLYN, N.Y. (May 24, 2010) – For the first time since the 2007 season, three members of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region accolades with seniors Mark Rasulo and Joe Finora, and junior Russ Grimes representing the Ducks on this year’s All-New York squad. Rasulo headlined the group of Stevens honorees, garnering second-team All-Region recognition, while Finora and Grimes took home third-team honors.

Rasulo enjoyed one of his best seasons since arriving on the Hudson in the fall of 2006, hitting .372 with a school record 20 doubles and 37 RBI – good for fourth on the program’s single-season charts. The Irvington, N.Y. native went deep four times this year, moving into sixth-place all-time in career homeruns (11), while ranking third in career doubles with 37.

The senior outfielder, who notched a record-tying five-hit outburst against Clarkson University, had 15 multi-hit games, reaching safely in all but five contests, scoring 34 runs.

In his final season at Castle Point, Finora went 7-3 as Ducks’ ace, with a 3.00 ERA. His seven wins on the year – tied for the second most by a Stevens’ student-athlete in any one season – gave him 12 career wins, ranking sixth all-time. The Mattituck, N.Y. native started 12 games this season, tying for second on the school’s single-season list, while his 34 career starts rank second all-time despite playing just three seasons after transferring into Stevens as a sophomore.

Finora’s 75.0 innings this year are good for third in the Ducks’ recordbooks, while his 61 strikeouts rank sixth. The reliable lefty also finished his career ranked fourth all-time in career innings pitched (207.1) and strikeouts (169).

Grimes started all 40 games for Stevens this season, hitting .316 with seven doubles, a record 10 home runs, and a team-high 42 RBI. His 42 RBI on the year sit third on the single-season charts, while his 87 total bases are tied for fifth. His three-run blast in the second game of a twinbill against Ithaca College on April 3 made the South Brunswick, N.J. native Stevens’ career homerun leader, while a pair of roundrippers against SUNY Old Westbury on May 6 set the program’s single-season mark.
