Ithaca Sweeps Women's Awards

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Marcia McCord and sophomore Emma Dewart of Ithaca College repeated as Empire 8 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Year, respectively, as the conference announced the year-end awards for men’s and women’s indoor track and field.

McCord added yet another honor to her list of accomplishments in repeating as the women’s top field athlete.  She qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in three events, placing 10th in the 400 meters.  She won that event at the ECAC Championships.  McCord captured the 55 meters, 200 meters, long jump, and triple jump and ran on the school-record 800 relay at the NYSCTC meet.  She earned Track Athlete of the Meet honors at the Empire 8 championship by winning the 55 meters, 200 meters, and triple jump.

Dewart repeated as Field Athlete of the Year after two All-American performances at the NCAA Championships.  She finished second in Division III in the pentathlon and third in the high jump.  Dewart broke a 27-year-old school record when she scored 3,508 points in the pentathlon at the NYSCTC Championships.  She also set a school record in the 55-meter hurdles at the ECAC Championships (8.37 seconds) to qualify for the national meet.

First-year student-athlete Jenn Randall of Ithaca College was named the Empire 8 Women’s Rookie of the Year.  Randall earned conference titles in the mile and as part of the distance medley relay.
