Stevens Ranked Sixth in Division III National Poll

HOBOKEN, N.J.  – On Tuesday afternoon, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America released the latest NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Division III Poll and the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s soccer team is ranked sixth in the country. The Ducks are 5-0-1 this season after a pair of 1-0 wins last week over The College of New Jersey and York College (Pa.). At the time of the York game, the Spartans were ranked 23rd in the nation.

The No. 6 ranking is the highest the Ducks have been in the poll since the third week of the 2009 season before a loss to Swarthmore College on September 16, 2009.

Stevens has yet to allow a goal in 2010 and has outscored the opposition 6-0, including four 1-0 wins over a tough schedule to open the season. Senior midfielder and reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year Nolan Sandberg has three goals this season with all three being game-winners, senior goalkeeper Zach Carr has a scoreless streak of more than 566 minutes of action.

Overall, the Stevens defense has not allowed single tally against in nine games in a row dating backing to November 8, 2009.
