Ithaca Sets Team and Individual Records
Canton, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's golf team posted a 25-shot improvement in its team total over the first round and sophomore Brooke Llobell (East Islip/Great River) posted a school-record score of 82 to lead the Bombers to a fifth-place finish at the St. Lawrence Invitational. Sunday's second round saw Ithaca move past Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher into fifth place, and the Bombers were the highest-finishing Empire 8 school at the nine-team tournament, played at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course, a par-72 layout that played to 5,846 yards.
Ithaca's Sunday total of 355 was a team-best score over a single round, bettering last weekend's 358 total on its home Country Club of Ithaca course in a dual-match win over William Smith. The Bombers finished fifth overall at St. Lawrence with a 735 total, as the host Saints finished first with a 633 total.
Llobell's school-record single-round score included a front-nine total of 44 and a back-nine score of 38. She improved by 13 shots from the first round to Sunday's final round. Sophomore Jackie Young (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/Burnt Hills) and senior Christie O'Shea (John Jay/Hopewell Junction) each posted 89 Sunday and sophomore Samantha Liberty (Brockton/Brockton, Mass.) shot 95. Senior Lauren Ryan (Concord/Concord, N.H.) rounded out Ithaca's totals with a score of 96.
