ONEONTA, NY - Sophomore Emily Thorndike (Dover, MA / Dover Sherborn) and senior Kate Bosy (Scotia, NY / Scotia-Glenville) scored goals for Hartwick and the Blue and White held on for a 2-1 road victory at Elmira College on Wednesday. The game marked the first Empire 8 game of the season for 'Wick, which improved to 4-0-1 against the Soaring Eagles over the last five seasons.

The Hawks opened the day's scoring in the 25th minute on a set piece. Bosy slipped the ball on a direct kick into EC's 18-yard box and Thorndike was there to finish off the play for her second tally of the year to give 'Wick the 1-0 edge. The Hawks would finish with 10 shots to Elmira's six in the opening half.

Hartwick tacked on its second goal just over 15 minutes into the second half. Bosy took a Hartwick corner kick and put it directly into the net past Elmira goalkeeper Karissa Wilson for a 2-0 lead.

Later in the half, the Soaring Eagles finally broke through in the 76th minute when Kelsey Kiel drove a 30-yard free kick up and over Hartwick keeper Alyssa Rondo (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) to cut the lead in half.

Both teams took three shots in the final 15 minutes of play but the Hawks were able to keep the Soaring Eagles at bay to secure the 2-1 win.

Rondo made two saves to gain the victory in goal. Wilson made 10 saves for Elmira, including seven in the first half alone. The Hawks held an 18-14 edge in shots in the contest and Elmira edged Hartwick 8-7 in corners.
