Nazareth Moves to 3-1 in Conference Play With Win Over Elmira
PINE CITY, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth scored its third straight victory in women's tennis Wednesday as the Golden Flyers won five singles matches in a 7-2 win over Elmira in Empire 8 Conference action.
Nazareth improved to 3-1 in conference matches and 3-2 overall. Elmira is 1-6 overall, including 1-5 in E8 matches.
Sophomore Cara Yinger triumphed at both singles and doubles. She won a straight-set match at fourth singles 6-3, 6-1 over Elmira's Melanie Walker. Yinger also teamed with senior Sherrita Wilkins for an 8-1 win at second doubles.
Freshman Alsin Tepas, sophomore Alex Vizgaitis, junior Abbey Goings and Wilkins also were straight-set singles winners. Tepas and Vizgaitis also teamed up for a win at first doubles.
