Baumbach Victorious as Ithaca Dominates at Oswego
Oswego, N.Y. – The Ithaca women’s cross country team dominated the field of competition Saturday at the 20th Annual Oswego State Invitational as the Bombers placed six in the top seven finishers to win the race.
Ithaca placed first with just 18 points followed by Oswego (104 points), William Smith (111), Alfred (125), Keuka (203), Potsdam (221) and Wells (288).
Junior Heidi Baumbach (Lake Placid/Lake Placid) took all honors with a 20 minute, 14 second finish and senior Alissa Kersey (Sandy Creek/Sodus) was close behind crossing the line second with a time of 20:43.
Seniors Catherine Ortiz (Newburgh Free Academy/Newburgh) and Elizabeth Schloss (Canterbury/Fort Wayne, Ind.) placed fourth and fifth with times of 20:54 and 20:57, respectively and freshman Jodi Robinson (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) rounded out all scoring in sixth place with a time of 20:59.
Though only five Bombers were running for points, and additional nine placed in the top 25.
