WHITE CLAY CREEK, Del. (September 18, 2010) – Sophomore Ashley Princiotta led the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s cross country team to a second-place finish at the University of Delaware Invitational. All five of the Stevens scorers were inside the Top-20 Division II & III finishers in the competition. Princiotta’s time was 20:48 in the 5K event.

Following close behind Princiotta was senior Laura Barito with a time of 21:08, good for seventh overall. The other Stevens scorers were an impressive trio of freshmen; Kelly Freed (14th), Laura Lemke (17th) and Katie Castroagudin (20th).

The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey won the Division II & III competition, and Robyn Evangelist (Linwood, N.J.) of the Ospreys took the individual title in the division with a time of 19:16. Stockton had five of its runners among the Top-10 finishers.

“All in all, it was a pretty strong performance by both the men and women as we continue to train through these early events in our schedule,” said head coach John Crawford. “We hope to really be peaking during our important meets in October and November.”
