Senior Lindsey Jester caged the lone goal of the contest as the Utica College field hockey team remained undefeated in Empire 8 Conference play after a 1-0 victory over visiting Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday. Sarah Keller assisted on the Pioneer game-winner at the 50:05 marker of the second half. Utica snapped Steven's 17-game conference win streak with the victory. The contest was a part of the College’s homecoming weekend.
With the win the Pioneers improved to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Stevens dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the E8.
Jester’s third goal of the season beat Steven’s goalie Ellyn Griggs, from five yards out, on the left side after a beautiful slot pass from Keller. Junior goalie Monica Storms stopped seven shots in her third shutout of the season. Griggs finished the day with seven saves.
The Pioneers outshot Stevens 13-8 overall and earned an 8-5 corner advantage on the day.
