JERSEY CITY, N.J. (September 24, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s cross country team hosted eight schools at Liberty State Park for the annual Stevens Invitational on Friday. With the combined scores from both the 4K and 6K events, the Ducks finished second overall in the competition on the waterfront. Dominic Catalano and Andrew Turnage were the top finishers for Stevens in the 4K and 6K, respectively.

Catalano’s 12th-place time was 13:19, and he was followed by Andrew Ballinger who broke the plane at 13:45 for 14th place.  Joseph Pinckney placed 21st, Sean Richards was 23rd and Kyle Buzby rounded out the Ducks’ scoring in the 4K with at 26th-place finish.

In the 6K event, a quintet of Stevens runners finished nearly within one half-minute of each other (20:29 – 21:02) in a solid block from seventh to 11th place. In order of finish, they were Turnage, Michael Cahill, Louis Stengel, Steve Chick, and R. Julian Gallo.

Those five earned Stevens a second-place finish in the 6K and clinched their second-palce finish in the overall competition as well.

New York University dominated the leaderboards, with 14 of the Top 10 from both men’s races representing the Violets.
