Cortland, N.Y. -- The Ithaca women's cross country team finished second out of four schools competing in the second annual Jack Daniels Invitational hosted by Cortland on Saturday. Junior Heidi Baumbach (Lake Placid/Lake Placid) placed first out of 58 finishers in the four-kilometer race with a time of 14 minutes, 57 seconds.
Each of Ithaca’s top seven runners in scoring position placed in the top-20 finishers. Following Baumbach was senior Alissa Kersey (Sandy Creek/Sodus) who finished eighth with a time of 15:40. Just two seconds behind Kersey in ninth place was senior Catherine Ortiz (Newburgh Free Academy/Newburgh) with a 14:42 finish.
The fourth Bomber to cross the line was sophomore Megan Schenk (Brick Township/Brick, N.J.) in 15th-place at 15:54 followed by sophomore Hannah Craig (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio), freshman Ally Bartkowiak (Lockport/Lockport) and senior Elizabeth Schloss (Canterbury/Fort Wayne, Ind.) in 17th, 18th and 19th-places, respectively.
Craig finished in 15:56, while Bartkowiak recorded a time of 16:04 and Schloss, 16:05.
