Ducks Drop First Match Since Joining Conference in 2007

After dropping a five-setter to Stevens Institute of Technology a year ago (one of four conference five-set losses), Elmira College turned the tables on the opening day of conference play this season and handed the Ducks their first Empire 8 loss since joining the league in 2007. The Soaring Eagels won the first two sets (26-24 and 25-18) before Stevens took the next two (25-18 and 25-14).

Elmira capped off the dramatic victory with a 15-13 win in the final set. The Soaring Eagles were led by Sasha Zavadska, who totaled 24 kills and a .396 attack percentage. Brittany Raykoske and Taryn Rumsey also reached double-digits in kills for EC with 13 and 10.
