Ithaca Alone Again In First Place After Drubbing Elmira 79-51

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (10-5, 6-0 Empire 8) moved into sole possession of first place in the Empire 8, rolling to a 79-51 win over visiting Elmira (3-12, 1-6 Empire 8).

The Bombers scored the game's first 16 points over a 5:10 span and were never threatened. The win was their conference-record 24th straight in Empire 8 play  and raised their all-time record against the Soaring Eagles to 37-11.

Senior forward Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) led Ithaca with 17 points, eight rebounds and five steals and added four assists. Three other Bombers reached double digits in scoring, including freshman guard Jennifer Escobido (Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.), who netted 11 points in her first career start.

Junior guard Jessica Farley (Pine Valley Central/South Dayton) added 11 points and senior guard Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall Park, N.J.) poured in 10 points in just 10 minutes of play.

Freshman guard Kathryn Campbell (Wall/Spring Lake, N.J.) recorded eight points, four rebounds, three assists and a career-high four steals. As a team, the Bombers matched a season high with 23 steals, turning Elmira's 25 turnovers into 27 points.
