Ithaca Team Cruises To 21-Point Win Over Hartwick

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (12-5, 8-0 Empire 8) won for the 10th time in 12 games, maintaining sole possession of first place in the Empire 8 with a 73-52 win over visiting 
Hartwick (5-9, 2-5 Empire 8).

Senior forward Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) recorded her third double-double of the season with game-high totals of 20 points and a career-best 11 rebounds. She also led the Bombers with four assists and four steals. Klie made eight of her 12 shots from the floor and blocked one shot, giving her 99 in her career. She'll be the fourth Bomber to reach 100. Klie raised her career total to 234 assists, 209 assists and 538 rebounds. She ranks fourth all-time at Ithaca in steals, ninth in assists and 12th in rebounds (12 away from the top 10).

Sophomore center Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) added nine points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Freshman guards Kathryn Campbell (Wall/Spring Lake, N.J.) and Jennifer Escobido (Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.) scored seven points apiece.

The Bombers posted their highest rebounding advantage of the season, outrebounding Hartwick 42-24. Ithaca closed the first half on a 13-7 run after the Hawks had taken their final lead, 21-20 with 8:44 left. The Hartwick closed the game making just three baskets in the final 12 minutes.

The win stretched Ithaca's conference-record winning streak to 26 straight Empire 8 games. The Bombers own a 43-16 series lead over Hartwick, winning 24 of the last 27 meetings between the two teams.
