GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Senior Hans Schroeder had 12 kills and sophomore setter EJ Wells-Spicer amassed 43 assists Saturday as Nazareth improved to 2-0 in men's volleyball with a three-set win over Thiel. Scores were 29-27, 25-21, 25-20.
Competing in the Thiel AVI Invitational, Nazareth, ranked fourth nationally by the American Volleyball Coaches Association -- plays two matches Sunday -- vs. 10th-ranked Carthage at 1 p.m. and vs. second-ranked Juniata at 3.
Schroeder's hitting included four errors in 20 attempts for a percentage of .400 from the outside,. He also had two digs and a solo block. Junior Billy Gimello added eight kills and senior Brian Bunch had seven. Senior Chris Mendez added five kills in six attempts and junior Dan Miranda also had five kills and three solo blocks.
Sophomore Robert Kraft contributed six kills with two aces and a solor block.
