Ithaca’s Women’s Track & Field Team Ranks Sixth Nationally
ITHACA, N.Y. -- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association ranked Ithaca’s women’s track & field team sixth in the nation in the
week 1 poll announced Wednesday. The Bombers have eight individuals and one relay team with results ranking in the national top-20 and an additional five in the top-30.
Three-time indoor All-American, junior Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker), holds the second-best 55-meter hurdles time, having recorded a finish of 8.33 at the Cornell Relays in December. She also ranks seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.43 meters and 12th in the high jump having cleared 1.63 meters.
Senior Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.) also ranks in a trio of events sitting fourth in the 55 dash, ninth in the 400 dash and 11th in the triple jump. A four-time outdoor All-American,
McCord has recorded season-best times of 7.21 in the 55 and 59.52 in the 400. She also provisionally qualified for nationals with an 11.29-meter mark in the triple.
Additionally, senior Kate Leugers (Rice Memorial/Richmond, Vt.) ranks eighth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:53.70 and sophomore Amanda Rissmeyer (Watchung/Millington, N.J.) sits 20th in the pentathlon standings with a point total of 2,319.
The Bombers’ distance medley relay team of freshman Mikayla Gaspary, freshman Larissa Lychola (Abington Heights/Clarks Summit, Pa.), senior Emily Moran (Walkill/Walkill) and sophomore Jenn Randall (Cincinnatus Central/Cincinnatus) in ninth in the national standings with a time of 13:10.11.
