Rhoades Earns National Honor; Ithaca Women's Swim Team Ranked 28th
ITHACA, N.Y. - Senior Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden) of the Ithaca women's swimming & diving team earned National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week in Division III for the week ending Jan. 24, as announced at
collegeswimming.com. Rhoades also earned Empire 8 Swimmer of the Week honors earlier this week.
She was a part of four event victories In Ithaca's 204-96 victory over Rochester, made two NCAA B qualifying marks and set three pool records in Saturday's meet. Rhoades won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.95 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 52.37 seconds. Those were pool records and NCAA B-cuts. She also anchored Ithaca's pool-record setting 400-yard medley relay that won in 4:03.13 and was a member of the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:40.75).
The site also released its latest national rankings, and Ithaca earned the 28th most points in the women's Division III poll. The Bombers are 10-0 on the season and compete Saturday in dual-meet action at Alfred.
