St. John Fisher Women's Basketball Extends Winning Streak To Four
The St. John Fisher College women’s basketball team won its fourth straight game as the Cardinals picked up a 65-60 win over host Elmira College on Friday night in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
With the win, Fisher improves to 9-9 overall and 6-3 in the Empire 8, while Elmira falls to 4-15, 1-9.
The Cardinals led 34-29 at intermission and had its lead cut to three at 34-31 in the opening minute of the second half.
Fisher, however, responded with an 8-0 run, thanks to six straight points from junior Meghan Soja>, pushing Fisher’s lead to 11 at 42-31 with 15:00 left in the game.
Fisher led by as many as 14 points at 50-36 with just over 11 minutes left, but Elmira chipped away and cut Fisher’s lead down to two at 59-57 with 3:27 left in the game.
The Cardinals, however, came down on the next possession and went back up six after buckets from Soja and Colleen Maloney.
Soja finished the game with a career-high 19 points. She also totaled nine rebounds, while shooting 9-for-11 from the foul line.
Camaryn Buckner finished with 14 points, while Maloney added 11 points.
