Bombers Run Record to 14-1 With Men's Swimming & Diving Win at Alfred

Alfred, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's swimming & diving team (14-1) defeated Alfred 173-127 Saturday afternoon at Alfred. Ithaca's 14-1 start to the season is the best start since the team finished 15-0 in the 2003-04 season.

Junior Jeff Rapp (Liverpool/Liverpool) won the 50-yard backstroke in 24.87 and the 200-yard backstroke in 1:59.90. Junior diver Derek Rand (Amity/Orange, Conn.) won both diving events by scoring 278.00 points on the 3-meter board and 258.70 on the 1-meter board.

Ithaca started the meet with a victory in the 400-yard medley relay as freshman Connor White(Fox Lane/Pound Ridge), sophomore Jake Lichter (Weston/Weston, Mass.), freshman Taylor Van Cott (Bethlehem/Delmar) and junior Antoine Connors (Spartanburg/Spartanburg, S.C.) won in 3:35.99.

White won the 100-yard individual medley in 55.46 seconds, Van Cott won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:58.24 and freshman Cheffy Thomas (Carmel/Carmel, Ind.) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:16.84.

Ithaca also won the meet's final event, as the quartet of Connors, freshman Jonathan Wheeler (Guilderland/Albany), sophomore Jake Robbins (Fairport/Fairport) and freshman Zack Kundel (Bethlehem/Glenmont) won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:27.36.
