Ithaca Women's Basketball Pulls Away for Win Over St. John Fisher
ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's basketball team (8-5, 4-0 Empire 8) pulled away in the second half and went on to a 78-62 win over St. John Fisher (5-7, 2-2 Empire 8) in an Empire 8 contest Saturday afternoon at Ben Light Gymnasium. Freshman Kathryn Campbell (Wall/Spring Lake, N.J.) posted career-high totals of 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way for Ithaca.
The Bombers used a 32-14 run over an 11-minute span in the second half to stretch the lead to 20 points. Senior forward Elissa Klie (Ramapa/Wyckoff, N.J.) had eight assists, a career-high in that category for her. The Bombers limited St. John Fisher to 33.3 percent shooting in the contest and converted 51.6 of their own field-goal attempts.
Campbell was 7-for-8 from the floor in the first half and 17 of her game-high 21 points at the break. Freshman guard Jennifer Escobido (Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.) had 14 points and sophomore forward Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) added 12 for Ithaca.
